Jake Owen spent the first part of Cinco de Mayo having a good time. From news reports maybe Owens had too good of a time and definitely had too much alcohol. The night of Cinco de Mayo in the town of Vero Beach, Florida, Jake Owens was arrested for alcohol related offenses and the country singing star was not happy about the incident. The first sign that Owens was probably inebriated came from the Tweets posted by the singer himself. One states “What’s the big deal about Cinco De Mayo, I’ve been drinking my ass off Everyday of Mayo.” What makes the entire incident even worse is that Jake was arrested in his hometown and in front of his family.
As the day wore on the Tweets from Jake Owens made it clear that substance abuse issues were in play. One Tweet read “I was wearing an old man mask and the sheriff decided to rip me out of Steak And Shake and embarrass me in front of my family, Classic.” Another Tweet blasted local law enforcement officers, saying “You give a guy a gun and a badge and he thinks he’s John Wayne.” A Tweet telling about his arrest in his hometown was paired with a photo of the singer handcuffed. The next morning after the alcohol had worn off Owen was more contrite and offered an apology with this Tweet “Y’all I apologize. The IRC Sheriff was doing their job. I love hometown. I had too good of a time on Cinco de Mayo.” From the looks of things substance abuse treatment is sorely needed for the star. Alcohol does not agree with him and help sounds like it is really needed in this case.
