Brooke Mueller, the ex wife of out of control actor Charlie Sheen, was recently sentenced and received a deferred judgment concerning her drug possession charges in the city of Aspen, Colorado. The couple has children together and a rocky relationship, with accusations of domestic assault, alcohol addiction, and substance abuse on both sides. The judge gave Mueller 1 year of probation and if she stays out of trouble during this period then she will have a clean criminal record. In March of 2012 Brooke Mueller entered a plea of guilty to possessing cocaine in an amount of 4 grams or less. The actual arrest for the drug charge occurred on December 3, 2011, and was the result of the police being called by another woman who alleged that Mueller assaulted her at a nightclub.
Because substance abuse is an issue in the Brooke Mueller case the judge has ordered that she undergo random urine drug screens while on probation, and she is not allowed to consume any alcohol at all. Substance abuse counseling was not ordered by the judge but this step may be a move in the right direction. The actress has twin sons with Charlie Sheen who are still toddlers, and the image of their mom partying it up in nightclubs and using cocaine is not one that is comforting in any way. Brooke Mueller has custody of the boys while Charlie Sheen has visitation. Both parents could use substance abuse treatment so that these boys have a better future.
