Being one of the smaller states in the US Vermont still has a very big problem with substance abuse and related crime. An estimated 300 residents are addicted to heroin and need treatment. Cocaine users are around 5,000 in Vermont, and there are a very small number of individuals who abuse club drugs including ecstasy. More than over 30,000 state residents have admitted to using some type of marijuana and over 13,000 individuals in the state abuse prescription drugs of some type. The drug most commonly used in this state is marijuana.
Virginia (VA)
With over 7.5 million residents will call Virginia state home, and Richmond is the capital city of this state. This state has many residents with some sort of substance abuse issues. It is estimated that there are more than 75,000 individuals who are on probation, and the prisons of the state are holding more than 35,000 individuals. Many of these individuals were sentenced for drug or alcohol offenses. There are more than 3,500 individuals in Virginia who are addicted to heroin, and over 370,000 residents use marijuana at least occasionally. The number of cocaine users in the state is more than 60,000, and prescription drug abuse is a problem for over more than 161,000 individuals in Virginia.
Virgin Islands (VI)
Washington (WA)
The capital of Washington state is Olympia, there are over 6.3 million residents who live here. Over 2,800 individuals admit to having an addiction to heroin and more than 135,000 admit to abusing of prescription drugs. The number of Cocaine users is around 50,000, with more than 300,00 reports of marijuana use that ranges from infrequent to daily. on average over 3,200 arrests monthly for drug-related charges and more than 2,400 are by DUI. Around 150 will die each month because of alcohol, Drug use will cause another 33 deaths each month.
West Virginia (WV)
West Virginia will have over 900 drug offense arrests in a month, roughly 700 individuals will face DUI arrest during a normal month. 42 people on average will die each month due to alcohol and drug abuse will kill another 9 residents. Over 5,000 residents are incarcerated in a West Virginia State prison. Methamphetamine is extremely popular and the lower availability because of new laws restricting access to manufacturing chemicals has increased the cost for this drug.
Wisconsin (WI)
In Wisconsin, roughly 2,850 people will be arrested every month for some type of drug offense and drug use will kill close to 30 individuals. Alcohol DUI arrests will affect another 1,880 residents and alcohol will cause the death of 129 individuals in an average month. The variety of drugs available surprise many who live in Wisconsin. Cocaine is abundant in the central region and eastern region of Wisconsin, these areas also have high rates of heroin use as well. Wyoming (WY)
Heroin and cocaine can both be found in small amounts in Wyoming but these drugs have not seen a large increase in recent years the way that methamphetamine has. This drug has caused the rate of child abuse, domestic abuse, and violent assaults to increase significantly. Prescription drug use is also rising in Wyoming, with oxycodone and hydrocodone popular drug choices in this area. Commonly used drug in the states is marijuana.
