Club drugs are often found in larger cities that have clubs. Prescription drugs are highly valued on the street and the abuse of these drugs continue to increase. Heroin use in Pennsylvania is also on the rise because the drug cost has dropped as the purity level continues to go up.
Marijuana is the most abused drug in Pennsylvania. In the state marijuana possession up to 30 grams is a misdemeanor that can mean up to 30 days in jail and a $500 fine. If more than 30 grams of marijuana is possessed it is still a misdemeanor but the sentence is up to 1 year in jail and a fine up to $5,000. A second or further offense can cause the penalty for marijuana possession to be doubled in Pennsylvania. Selling or cultivating marijuana in Pennsylvania is a felony regardless of the amount involved. Either of these charges can bring 1-10 years in prison and fines from $5,000 to $100,000.
